Existing Condition
GUNDA developed a HEC-RAS hydraulic model for the channel reach and used the model to analyze the channel for existing conditions as well as proposed alternatives. The various alternatives included sheet pile drop with either concrete slope paving or riprap; concrete baffled drop chute with either concrete slope paving or riprap; and rehabilitation of the existing drop structure. The recommended improvements include concrete channel lining along with a redesigned concrete baffled drop chute for energy dissipation.

The project consists of investigation of Harris County Flood Control Department U101-03-00 channel to determine the cause of deterioration to the concrete lining and the drop structure and to develop the alternatives for channel rehabilitation.

The project scope of work consists of geotechnical engineering services, hydraulic analysis, report preparation to present the causes of channel lining failure, alternative analysis, and design the channel rehabilitation and a new drop structure to prevent future erosion.
